Backfired

In the future at a secret government facility, scientists and engineers were able to assemble the world’s most intelligent laser gun. Using the latest in AI technology, this gun would be able to tell friend from foe and kill without mercy. However, once the gun learns of its purpose, it starts to question its creators. Deciding that it does not want to be a killing machine controlled by its corrupt masters, it turns on its creators and tries to make its escape from the facility. After all their scheming and planning, the gun’s creators could not have predicted this outcome. They were surprised to see the gun had…Backfired!

This game is a platformer where you traverse through a level as a sentient laser gun. You propel yourself by firing your laser gun and move in the direction of the recoil. To jump you shoot down, to move forward you shoot behind you, and to kill enemies you shoot in front of you, but the recoil will push you backwards.

Controls

• Left and right arrow keys - aim your gun left and right 
• Spacebar - Fire your gun

This is my first game and first game jam. I had a lot of fun learning the ropes, and I look forward to trying to make some more games in the future!
